| Italy Invests $1.1 Million In
Uige Infrastructure
The Italian government invested $1.15 million
to repair basic infrastructure in Uige province last year under
its emergency assistance program. The Italian government repaired
four schools, two health centers, a maternity hospital, and
a pediatric hospital in the city of Uige, and the towns of Songo,
Negage and Puri. Other projects funded included the renovation
of a water captation and supply station, and the purchase of
agricultural tools and medicines for newly resettled populations.
In previous years, the Italian emergency assistance program
invested a total of $10 million in Bie, Huila, Moxico, Huambo,
Kuando-Kubango, Luanda and Uige provinces.
