ANIP NEWS, 12.08.2005

The Angolan government gave final approval to SouthernEra Diamond Mining Company to form the Angolan operating company “Sociedade Mineira do Camafuca Lda (SMC)” that will be issued the mining license to develop the Camafuca diamond project. With final approval granted, SouthernEra expects to begin development of the project in the very near future. Camafuca is one of the largest known undeveloped diamond-bearing kimberlite complexes in the world and is located in Lunda Norte province, 20 kilometers southeast of Lucapa. The project area has a combined surface area of 160 hectares and contains five kimberlite pipes. A 2000 feasibility study undertaken by SouthernEra estimates total diamond resources for the project to be 23.25 million carats.
