Angolan Government Approves Legal Framework for IPA
ANIP NEWS, 09.09.2005

The Angolan government approved and gazetted the legal statutes for the creation of the Institute for Development of Artesian Fishing and Aquaculture (IPA) this week. The IPA will promote and develop artesian, marine and continental fishing by developing technical assistance programs to support artesian fishing communities and to protect the marine, continental and aquaculture environment.

In related news, a UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) expert recently concluded a two-week survey on Angola’s potential for aqua-farming. The expert visited Cabinda, Bengo, Luanda and Moxico provinces to assess marine and freshwater fish breeding potential and concluded that the country has a large number of areas that could be developed for aquaculture.
