Oil Production to Grow to Two Billion Barrels per Day

Alfredo Rafael, the head of licensing and exploration in Angola’s Ministry of Petroleum announced at a conference in The Hague that Angola plans to increase its crude oil production to 2 billion barrels per day by 2008, up from the current production rate of 1.3 billion b/d. Almost all of the new production will come from 35 offshore blocks. The government is also planning to hold a licensing round for onshore fields by next year.
