| Angolan Parliament Approves International
Conventions on Industrial Property and Patents

The Angolan parliament recently approved
the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property
and the Patents Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Adhering to the two
conventions will further safeguard intellectual property rights
(IPR) in Angola. The country is also a member of the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO), one of the 16 specialized agencies
of the United Nations system of organizations. WIPO administers
23 international treaties dealing with different aspects of
intellectual property protection and has 182 members.
